SeX Trafficking Defined...

Sex Trafficking, as defined by the Department of Justice, is being forced or manipulated into exchanging a commercial sex act for anything of value.  

​

A commercial sex act can include sexual intercourse, stripping, pornography, stripping, etc.

​

"Value" can include money, food, clothing, and shelter.

​

Sex Trafficking is modern-day slavery.  Girls are being bought and sold in America's slave trade every single day!

Who Is Most At Risk

  • girls ages 12-14

  • girls of color

  • girls with a history of physical/sexual trauma

  • girls in foster care

  • girls with low self-esteem

  • girls living in homes with instability

Other Important facts​
 

  • 1 out of every 3 girls molested by age 18

  • the age a girl is likely first fondled is age 5

  • 82% of all sexual assaults under age 18 are young women and girls are

  • 66% of sexual assault victims are aged 12-17

  • 34% of sexual assault victims are under the age 12

  • every 9 minutes a child is sexually abused 

  • young women and girls ages 16-19 are 4 times more likely than any other group to be victims of sexual assault

How Traffickers ENslave
